Hi there, A friend of mine wants to upgared his machine. he has an i7 4790k and 16 gb of ddr3 1600 mhz and an h97 msi board he wants to upgrade. He already has an 3060ti upgrade. He definitly needs a new cpu and also definitly new ram but he also needs a new motherboard then.

right now he was thinking about uprading to an 5800x and an asus rog b550f. for ram he wants non rgb 16 gigs of 3200/3600 mhz.(i was thinking of 2x8 corsair vengeance)

does this seem like a good choice of parts and is there a way to make it cheaper for same preformance

Yea a platform switch is necessary for your friend for 3060ti  5800x isnt going to be a bottle neck in anyways. Get a Nvme ssd that is one of the best things can enhance any pc.  Vengance 3600 is fine if you dont care about rgb and stuff. 16 gb will be fine for most games but if he is into simulation games or strategy games get 32gb the cost isnt that much differant from 16gb.
