Home Server build advice needed

I am planning on building my first ever home server and I need some advice. For needed context, my current gaming rig is an i7 4790k, GTX 1070. On my local classifieds there is a guy selling a rig with a Ryzen 1800X, 1TB SSD with no GPU for $500. Basically, if it's worth it, I'd swap the 1800x over to my gaming rig and use the 4790k for the server rig. But my question

is, is the 1800x much, if any, of an upgrade over the 4790k. I was planning to upgrade my CPU in my gaming rig at some point after getting a server going. How much better performance can I expect gaming wise with an 1800x over a 4790k?
