Hello, so my system pulls a lot of power when idling or just reading some articles on the web.

So me writing this post my PC idles at:
PC 87W
Monitor: 28W

This is little crazy if you ask me... not sure how "refreshrate" affects performance but I have Vsync and Gsync enabled meaning it only refreshes when something is happening on the screen.

The brightness on my monitor is also set to 30%...

115W just to look at a website seems little crazy. Is the Zen4 architecture so inefficient?
GPU 3060ti power usage according to MSI AB is at 16W...

HW Monitor reports 25-40W for the CPU... I don't understand why the CPU runs at 5.5Ghz half of the time...

What power plan do you have active? My i7 9700 idles at around 10W and my whole setup with 2 monitors idles at 50W

Do you have one of the 7XXX GPUs? Those pull a lot of power, even at idle.

Did you OC it or have the boost settings on the motherboard on?

You can set the minimum processor freq in windows.

https://www.minitool.com/lib/minimum-processor-state.html

Adjust your power plan, if you had HDDs, you could configure them to turn off when not being used, same goes with case/GPU fans with the software below.

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.
