1050 outdated?

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

1050 would be outdated.

It's about half the performance of a RX 570 / RX 6400 /GTX 1650

GTX 1060 is around 10% faster on average than a RX 570/GTX 1650 and similar in performance with a modern RX6500XT (benefit is the RX 6500 XT has MUCH lower power consumption)

Both are bad choices, but 1050 is really horrible choice.  Ideally you would get a video card with at least 8 GB of VRAM, as modern games use more memory, and 4 GB is only enough for 1080p / 1440p (med-high quality)

Yes if you are not looking for just a video adapter. and maybe you can get away with 1050 in Fps games go for something higher like 1080 rx, 6600 (in ebay it seems  to share almost the same prize as a second hand 1060 6gb). If you have one lying around its a perfect card buying a new 1050 for gaming is a bad idea.

If you can get it for cheap and use it for just for monitor output or low setting <1080p 60hz, thenmaybe.

Linus had a video recently about why the low end GPUs ar bad value

A gtx 1050 was basically outdated when it launched. Its not even a 1080p 60fps low card anymore.

What 1060 is it?

the 3gb is 15% slower than a 6gb 1060 as they arent the same gpu. That and 3gb of vram isnt enough for games today.

The gtx 1060 6gb is still a 1080p 60 fps low-medium card.

But a rx480/580 8gb is usually cheaper and better.

That being said what are your systems specs and what is your budget.

Make sure to include the make and model of the psu.
