I am looking for a device to mostly watch streams and movies on.

If there is a possibility for light gaming that be great but I'd to look in to an option where it is purely movies only (to save cost)

With light gaming i mean games such as The Swindle, The binding of Isaac and Rocket League at best.

The last time i looked in to laptops was in 2008 and i don't know what to look for now and what options i really have.

Budget would be not much more than $350 USD.

At $350, it would need to be used to do gaming. Maybe if you could do game streaming it might work, but it would be a stretch.

Not streaming as i am the host, streaming as in watching Netflix etc.

My girl says with if i just want to watch Netflix i could get like a kindle but i want to be able to do more if that is possible.

If your main priority is to watch Netflix/videos, you could also look into a tablet device. It is likely that these will not run the games you mentioned, but depending what tablet, you could use their store for ‘mini games’.

A Chromebook would also fit in your budget, and could be an ideal solution if budget + watching videos are the most important two things

ltt made a video about unboxing a "gaming" chromebook that cost around your budget. but the gaming part is mostly for playing games using streaming service like the geforce now etc.

That should be doable with just about any iGPU from the last few years, especially AMD. Shouldn't get too hot either, since those tend to be low-power anyway.

I'd recommend a convertible (one of the ones with a 360° hinge) if you want to lay in bed and watch things, I've personally found a tablet formfactor to be way more comfortable than a laptop.

I will find your Laptop thread and I will recommend an ITX build instead
