HDD for everyday use!

Go to solution Solved by alpenwasser,

I am considering 2 tb segate barracuda or wd black. BTW ssd is included in the build

The Black is pretty expensive, but it's a good drive and does come

with a long warranty period. If that's important to you and you are

willing to spend the money, the Black is not a bad choice. But if

you don't really need the warranty of the Black, the Seagate is quite

a bit more affordable (well, at least where I live).

Either drive will be fine, the differences aren't that significant

for the average daily user TBH. Basically you need to figure out if

the advantages the Black offers are worth the significant added cost

it comes with, then you can make your decision.

An SSD of some kind.

Basicly Western Digital has different kinds/types of harddrives. The AV drives are mostly used for surveillance storage and video capturing storage. Also the Purple is just an evolution of the Av drives, all in all they are used for storage every single minute of the day. As they write on their website it's for 24/7 storage. Although purple is optimized for surveillance, then if you are doing a lot of surveillance work you should totally go for the Purple, more reliability.

For average daily use, the WD Blue, WD Green (if you need more capacity)

or the Seagate Desktop drives will be fine. If speed is a factor, it might

be worth it taking a look at the Seagate SSHD drives which have an SSD

cache.

What will you be using the machine/storage for?

the machine is goung to be used in home and office. In office there is a netbook that's going to connect to the pc at home via RDP. In desktop use many WD greens have died on me  so i dont trust them. I am considering 2 tb segate barracuda or wd black. BTW ssd is included in the build
