Hullo,

Has anyone used a side glow fibre (i think that's the right term) to create a soft underglow for their motherboard? I've seen other forums where people that have stuck led strips under the board, but that seems to be an incredibly harsh (as in bright) way to get an underglow.

So, just wondering how using a fibre would look vs the led strips.

So the kind of thing you are talking about is this, right?:

If so, then it depends on what you want. I think that LED strips placed under the motherboard will look better if you position them correctly but these fibers might be easier.

The LED strips would need to be positioned a few cm in from the edge of the board

Yeah that exactly, I just reckon it'll look nicer at night if the light is softer, hence why I feel that using fibres would be better. I think that led's will be incredibly bright though. I don't know, I'll go with the fibers first to see how it is, coz they're generally cheaper, but I don't know how far the light would diffuse from the optic fiber, as in, how much will it glow
