Headset - not plugged in

Hey guys so I just reinstalled Windows 8 and I had to set up the sound again so I went to control panel - Manage Audio Devices and turned on my speakers there and they work fine. But my headset still has the "not plugged in" status even though it is plugged into the back of my PC where it always was plugged in(top middle 3.5 mm jack). I tried plugging it into the other jacks at the back, the jack on the front and its still not plugged in and doesnt work. How do I make it work?

Specs of my PC:

CPU: AMD FX 8350  Motherboard: Gigabyte 990XA UD3  GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 Windforce 2GB  HDD: WD Green 2TB SSD:  Corsair Force GT 120GB SSD RAM: Corsair 8GB(2X4) PSU: CoolerMaster G650M

Plug it into the green one.

no matter which jack i plug it into it still says"not plugged in"

Did you install the Realtek drivers?

im doing that now i remembered that those fixed it last time. are these the right ones?  http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false the 2nd from the top the 64bit(i have 64 bit os)

ok fixed it now! just changed it "headphone" in realtek and it works justfine! thanks anyway!
