I've been having a very odd issue on my pc for the last 2 or so years. The issue occurred when I switched over from an 6+ year old psu (875w) to a newer, more modern but lower wattage (550w) psu. I started experiencing random restarts whenever I was gaming, and even after it restarting it would continue to do so for awhile. Reseating the graphics card would sometimes fix it, but it would always come back. I then moved countries and switched over to a SFF case, with me replacing my motherboard and PSU with a Corsair SF600. (My specs then were a Ryzen 5 3600 with a GTX 1060 6GB, then moved over to a GTX 1650 Super.) Things were fine for a year, but then I moved back and took the case with me and replaced the 1650 Super back with my GTX 1060.

I started having issues again with restarting, even though 600w is more than enough for my specs. I upgraded to a RTX 3060 Ti, but the problem keeps happening.

MB: Asrock B550m ITX/ac

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

CPU Heatsink: Scythe Big Shuriken 3

Case: CM NR200

PSU: Corsair SF600 Gold

Memory: Corsair LPX 16gb DDR4 3200 (8x2)

SSD: Crucial P1, 2 SATA SSDs

GPU: Zotac RTX 3060ti OC

Symptoms:

During gaming, sometimes shuts off and restarts, other times its completely fine and I can keep on playing for the entire session

CPU and GPU, heat up, but only up to a maximum of 68°C for my CPU and 75°C for the GPU

PSU also heats up, could be the issue?

After turning off, it takes a while sometimes for it to restart, around a few minutes

Things I've tried:

Installing case fans for the cpu, gpu, and psu

Reinstalling Windows

Reinstalling graphics drivers

Thing's I've yet to try:

Buying a new PSU

Reinstalling the CPU

Replacing the motherboard?

It's been really frustrating for me.

Has has anyone else had this problem? Any solution you can recommend? I'm afraid of dropping money on a new PSU and the issue still persisting.

Do you get bluescreens?

Start bij checking your windows minidump folder for reports, if there are any.

Also, did you DDU (display driver uninstaller) for all your card swaps? This is best practice because a corrupted video driver could also be at fault.

Hello,

I don't get bluescreens, just goes to straight to black then restart. (I turned off the setting that automatically restarts the computer, but no bluescreens regardless)

I didn't use ddu, didn't know about it back then unfortunately. For my current card, I uninstalled then reinstalled the drivers again just to make sure. I do note that the card pretty much runs at full performance at 200 watts.

If your minidump or event viewer doens't have any files in them I'd personally make sure all the connectors are fully seated.

Sometimes a rebuild of your system can fix the problems, as you could find bad connections in your case.

The 600w should be fine for your system.

I'm checking for the minidump folder, but no folder was created. What could that mean? I'll try reseating my connections.
