Upgrading my Dell 8940

Alright, im going straight to the point.

My pc keeps closing on me while i work on it.(it stopped while i was writing this, and I only have 10 tabs open and no other program)
From what I've figured out it's a known issue from this pc that it has a tendency to overheat and dell being the way they are have everything inside proprietary.
so, now I'm kind of stuck having to buy new components.
I preferably want to future proof this so i don't have to touch it for a while after.

There is no way to replace just the cpu cooler?
