mw2 not working

Go to solution Solved by Ominous,

There seems to be a lot of causes for this crash. Of course the first thing to try is updating your graphics card drivers. I did this but it hasn't completely solved the problem, I still get the occasional freeze but I don't get a crash message. If this doesn't work some general troubleshooting might fix the problem.

Try changing some of your graphics settings. Change to Fullscreen instead of Windowed Fullscreen or vice versa. On-demand Texture Streaming and high shader quality seems to be the culprit for some players. Double check that you have enough video memory available. It might be beneficial to try running the game in administrator mode.

All else fails I would maybe look towards hardware causes. I found a reddit threading where disabling XMP managed to solve the problem. It's much less likely but if you've overclocked your system I would double check that your overclock is stable under load. Others have mentioned that the game works fine on Windows 10 but doesn't work on Windows 11, same goes for the inverse.

The game is clearly unstable, hopefully the crashes will be fixed with future updates but these might fix or reduce the problem.

There is no screenshot.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
