So I recently bought a new PC and a new ethernet cable for it(CAT.5E),however it doesnt seem to work,I tried another older cable on my new PC and still nothing,I also tried the new cable on my old PC and it doesn't work,so I taught it was the cable and asked for a replacement,it arrived and still it doesn't work.An orange light is flickering next to the the ethernet cable where it is plugged in my PC.I installed all new drivers i could find(it says it is a realtek PCie GbE Family controller).I should also mention im using Windows 10 and that i tried putting a usb network adapter in my computer and although it was very slow, the WiFi worked. The guy who built the PC tried using a cable and it worked for him prior to delivering it to me.My guess is the Router is just old and i should get a new one, however everything else works just fine,WiFi for all devices is great, using cables for other computers works just fine so I am kinda lost.

You have tried plugging it into another port on the router?

If you open CMD and type IPCONFIG what IP address is showing on the ethernet port?

In device manager is it showing the ethernet adaptor as working ?

Where are you connecting the other end of the ethernet cable? One end is your PC, but what/where does the other connect to? If its a wall port it could be the terminal/connector was not terminated correctly so as a result you are seeing activity LED's, but having issues establishing a wired connection.

You should try running a known good ethernet cable between your PC and your router/switch and/or try different ports.

Have you tried looking at the ethernet ports connection to make sure nothing has become damaged?
