Well. £300-400 on cpu. Looking at 1440p with fps in the mid 100s on current games such as Forza, Call of Duty and battlefield.

Full budget excluding the GPU, monitor, peripherals, there are more factors in deciding a CPU other than the CPU budget.

@Dukesilver27-

So far I have got

• be quiet pure base 500fx

• 2x 8gb of DDR5 6000mt/s

• Msi Mag C240 AIO

• Msi RX 6950 XT gaming x trio

The Motherboard i was thinking of is a Msi z690 edge Wi-Fi DDR5 . £319.

looking to buy a 850w psu and a 1tb gen 4 NVME.

just wondering if I would run into any bottlenecks with an I5 13th gen or would need to go for an i9 13th gen.

Well, again, since there's no full budget, then I'll just shoot a parts list.

In 1440p and above, CPU is less important, GPU is where it matters, even with a 12600K, you should not see any bottleneck.

FYR I have 6800 XT with 12400 also plays in 1440p, no bottleneck and all recent AAA games at highest settings run at 100+fps.

So my pick is 13600K, paired with a great AIO, I can't find the MSI's review, so I can't recommend it.

Generally, 2x8GB is not recommended for DDR5, details are a bit confusing, but the gist is that it runs slower than 2x16GB. So 32GB DDR5 6000.

Great gen 4 SSD, could go cheaper with Kingston NV2 if you want.

High quality 850W PSU, if you don't know the brand or don't trust it, alternative but a bit more expensive is be quiet! Pure Power 11 FM 850.
