I've been using the Affinity suite for quite a while now. In fact I'm 100% Adobe free now, I finally gave Resolve another shot and managed to edit a whole project on it without running back to Premiere!

Anyway, now that V2 is out, is it actually worth upgrading?

£90 for the universal license, which includes Windows, Mac and iPad seems like a steal, but I already have Photo, Designer, and Publisher.

And, for those of you that don't know, a V1 Mac and Windows license is interchangeable, despite what they tell you. I bought Windows license and activated them on my Mac with absolutely no issue!

I tried watching a few videos on what's new in V2 but I just couldn't get through them. There's something about the 'arty' and 'creative' people that just makes me feel queasy!

I know that, despite me wanting the new shiny, I'm not held back with V1. And the things that I do miss they haven't yet added in V2 (image tracing in Designer!), and can easily be solved with Inkscape, which we were actually taught in school alongside Illustrator so I'm very familiar with.

So, what I'm really asking for is validation to upgrade to V2, and if there's anything new that's worth getting excited about.

I've used both. If there are improvements (at least the Photo program, can't vouch for the others) it's under the hood. Perhaps for the Mac, support for their new CPUs? Dunno. I was tempted for the sale license as well, but like you, have held off.

The thing is, it's Affinity, so I'm sure they'll have a 50% off sale further down the line.

I bought my V1 products at 50% off, and they've had regular 50% off sales since.

I wish I could dump Adobe. I'm fortunate that I bought the last version you can actually own for LightRoom and PS. Though I rarely use PS (I dislike post work on my images, preferring to get it right in the camera) I live and die by LightRoom. While there are tons of PS-clones, I've yet to find anything that can touch LR. I had high hopes Affinity would come out with something, and maybe in time they will.

You're literally creating art if you're using those programs... What a silly thing to say.
