operating systems have been known to occupy storage[citation needed]. "system" could indicate a whole lot of things so depending on what you have installed or cached it may be a bit more or a bit less.

16GB is very little for an OS. I just checked my computer and macOS takes up 40GB in /System/ alone.

Are you writing this because you think 16GB is too much or too little?
