If you read the comments, Wired published this story a week ago (I remember, I skimmed it then too). They reposted it nuking all the comments that were calling it on it's BS.

Even the ads were from Shell and other gas companies in the article (at least for me they were).

Wired is bought. Has been for a while. Be wary of what you read there.
