PROBLEM SOLVED!! Two sticks of 3200MHz 16GB Teamgroup RAM running at 2400MHz

A year and half old Pre-built system

-Asus B550M-A

-Msi 3060

-Ryzen5 5600x

-*Add on: Hyper212 evo cpu cooler

-32GB Teamgroup RAM 2x16GB DDR4 3200MHz (which is running at a combined speed of 2400MHz

-800w power supply

RAM sticks are in slots #2 & #4 "The grey tabs"

I have confirmed in Task manager, BIOS & CPUZ. That my two sticks of ram are indeed running at a total of 2400MHz.

In BIOS I do not have an xmp profile option.  I have ONE profile selection under D.O.C.P.

Which reads "D.O.C.P. DDR4-3200 16-20-40-1.3 5V"

In BIOS under MEMORY FREQUENCY this reads "DDR4-3200MHz"

FCLK FREQUENCY reads "1600MHz" and yet I'm still only getting 2400MHz

I've been sitting on this for a while and it seems my only option is to attempt to manually set my RAM speeds correctly in BIOS

Has anyone had this problem with similar specs?

Or maybe anyone that feels comfortable speaking about manually clocking my RAM. I'm a little thrown off by the fact my "FCLK FREQUENCY" Is already set to 1600MHz as I read it should be for two sticks of DDR4 3200MHz.

PLEASE HELP!

*Edit...shout out to @CommanderAlexfor helping me out almost immediately!!

That's normal. Check in Windows with CPU-Z to read what the memory frequencies at.

FLCK frequency of 1600MHz makes sense as it's Double Data Rate memory, 2 sticks multiplied by 1600 gives 3200MHz speeds.

Posting those pictures above now. Starting with the memory tab, then the speeds of each RAM stick

You saved the changes when enabling XMP in BIOS? Appears to be running at JEDEC speeds. Did the computer reboot a couple times after saving changes?

The CPU-z pictures are before I went into bios.

Saved the changes? Everyone keeps saying that like I changed something lol. I always save my bios settings.

And in this instance I did not change anything in bios. I don't have xmp. I have DCOP, and only one profile to select.

Is my only other option to manually clock?

Yes, save the changes if you want DOCP. XMP is Intel's memory OC profiles feature, just like DOCP and now EXPO is for AMD's memory OC profiles. Sorry I always say XMP when referring to AMD systems as I grew up with an Intel system. Gotta break the habit someday.

JEDEC sets the default RAM timings and frequencies for DDR generations. Since DOCP is a memory overclock, it goes past the JEDEC speeds. JEDEC is a minimum guaranteed frequency and timings the memory ICs have to hit.

I always save my settings changes before resetting from BIOS. And yes almost every time I leave BIOS..my pc will reset at least three times

But Like I said above. I have not changed anything in BIOS related to memory since I've had this system.  When I go into BIOS..What you saw is what I have seen since I bought it.

Minus the nasty CPU overclock I have heh..

Above in the CPU-Z pictures of each stick of ram where is says "JEDEC 1200MHz" for the first three columns and the fourth column says "XMP-3200Mhz" should I be seeing all "XMP 3200's" across those columns?

Ok, so the motherboard is failing to POST with the DOCP profile. After looking up the RAM in the QVL list on the motherboard's support page (ASUS Prime B550M-A (WIFI)), these RAM sticks are not on the QVL list.

This BIOS version is a Beta BIOS from 2020/11/25 and the latest non-Beta BIOS is Version 2803 from 2022/04/29. Set BIOS to default settings and flash the newer BIOS version on as this can help with memory stability (sometimes it is just a matter of updating the BIOS to get DOCP to work). Other times, it may not work at all and buying a RAM kit from the QVL list to guarantee the kit and timings work on a particular motherboard.

Write down your CPU overclock settings if you want to reuse them in the newer BIOS, as the BIOS will flash over with the newer BIOS.

Check through the motherboard's manual on how to flash the BIOS. Typically, you download the BIOS from the support page and place on a USB thumb drive. Some motherboards have a BIOS flash USB port on the rear I/O so again, check the manual. Then go into BIOS and there's a section there where you can flash the BIOS. The manual has more in detail on how to do so.

My bios is not locating the flash drive or the file. As far as I'm seeing. Flash drive is direct plugged into ss port in motherboard. I followed the steps in reformatting the flash drive. Then copied the file to the drive. Under all drives pictured..there is no file name for the bios download. Nor is there any drive I can click on that has just one file listed as the bios download file.

Sorry for not seeing the post 2 hours ago where you needed help with the BIOS on the drive. IIRC, you have to click that other command thing to rename the file to be ready for flashing on the drive, for whatever reason ASUS decided.

You should see a slight bump in performance now with the higher frequency. 😉

All good! The vid I watched said to format the drive for FAT. After reformatting  the drive about 4 times I ended up switching back to NTFS, AND that time around I copied both of the bios files. Instead of just the CAP file. After copying both files to the drive, BIOS recognized the bios cap file and it's been all up-hill from there 😉. Enabled my docp profile. Even got my 4.8GHz profile back on my cpu. Now to test and benchmark the rest of the night 😆
