Hey friends,

I just woke up this morning to my computer not waking up from sleep. I power cycled the system and now I'm getting no POST. I have an ROG Strix X570-E Gaming Motherboard with a Ryzen 5800x installed and an MSI RTX 3080 GPU. As shown in the title, I'm getting the motherboard code "02" when powering on. No image. This is NOT a new build, been using it for about a year now.

I will however mention I had some odd behavior from the CPU a few months ago where temperatures would clime suddenly to high 90s and would throttle extremely hard out of nowhere. I replaced the AIO and haven't had the problem since.

Any ideas?

Since I bought the board. Just updated now though. No dice.

Is there any damage to the motherboard anywhere possibly?? Just thinking that board is dead.

After looking around online more, what monitor are you currently using and what cable?

Gosh it's been a minute I'm not sure I remember. The monitors are in fine working order. I could try switching out cables? I did switch around which ports go to which monitors and that didn't help. Also when the video went out during the game both monitors went out and it sounded like the game crashed in the background.

You can try switching out cables. Also, I read on a post talking about the input of the monitor, i.e DisplayPort 1.2 or 1.4. They said that by changing it, it solved their problem.

Here's the link:

Otherwise, I'm suspecting the board is the issue here.

I will try this. A couple of questions though. 1: forgive me but how can I change the monitor displayport settings? and 2: Why would this only start happening now?

If your monitor has buttons, maybe check through the menu settings there for the input of the monitor.

This seems to be a one-off with the reddit post and monitor issue causing the 02 POST error but other threads I've read signals a dead motherboard. You've tried clearing CMOS too??? Try maybe another PCIe slot with the graphics card to see if it'll POST.
