XMP Issues, 13600k, ASUS TUF B660M, Corsair 3600 CL16 DDR4

Bought a 13600k on launch day to upgrade my system consisting of the following:

  • Intel i5-12400
  • ASUS TUF Gaming B660M-PLUS WIFI D4
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3600MHz CL16 DDR4 (CMK16GX4M2D3600C16)

Before installing the 13600k I upgraded to the latest BIOS from ASUS (v2014). After installing the 13600k the system prompted to configure the BIOS, but enabling XMP I or II would render the system unbootable. Was running with XMP II on the 12400 for several months and I never once had a bluescreen or any instability. I tried manually adjusted timing and frequency and could set timing to 16-19-19-36 and the DRAM voltage to 1.35V, but I couldn't get past 3200MHz with the 13600k... Currently at 14-16-16-30, 1.35V, and 3200MHz with no issues. Haven't pushed timings past that. Strange that I'm capped at the supported 3200MHz memory speed of Raptor Lake...

Anyone else had issues with an ASUS (or others) B660 mobo and Raptor Lake? I'm leaning towards this being a BIOS issue and not an issue with the 13600k.

  • 4 weeks later...

Fixed: Installing the latest Intel ME(16.1.25.1885v2) from ASUS fixed the issue. XMP works without any crashes. Stable for over a week now.

Didn't think to try this after updating the BIOS initially but It did the trick. Hope this helps someone else.

Many thanks, I was in the exact same situation as you. I didn't think ME was needed and above all that it made XMP work

I had the exact same problem upgrading from a 12th to 13th gen Intel, could not go past 3200Mhz unless ME was updated. As this thread was a rare find, I'm posting the details for others:

TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI D4 BIOS 0810

Intel Core i5 13600KF

XPOWER Zenith DDR4
