UPDATE: BIOS update seems to have fixed the issue.

Hey guys I just upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 5 5600. Right after upgrading I've been having some problems with my GPU. My pc just randomly turns off when playing or doing something heavy like benchmarking.

I've noticed that since upgrading my CPU my GPU temps have been rather high when under load. It used to stay at around 65-75 degrees but now it reaches over 85-95.

I've tried some fixes like undervolting my GPU, increasing GPU fan speed, and adding exhaust fans to my case but it still jumps to 85+ degrees when I start games, although it seems to have stopped the crashing.

Any advice?

Turning off under stress could be overheating rather than a specific GPU problem.

What cooler do you use for the CPU ? Is the front of the case good for airflow ?

Also if the GPU is old you could try repasting it, could be the thermal compound isn't cutting it and old.

Im using a dual chamber case Tecware VXR(Lian li 011 clone) I'm using an air cooler for my CPU(its the tall one with a fan on the side i forgot what they're called all of a sudden). I repasted this 3 months ago but I could try doing it again. thanks for the tip! I'll update if it works.

  • 3 weeks later...

Sorry for the late update. Sooo I've repasted my GPU which reduced its temps by 30 degrees celcius so thank you.

Now the black screen just turned into a restart at random times while gaming. Stress testing does not trigger it for some reason.

I thought it might be my CPU overheating so I switched from the stock cooler into an AIO which decreased my average CPU temps and reduced the frequency of the restarts but it still happens. I've tried reformatting, changing to AIO, DDU, updating BIOS, and resetting CMOS. I'm just really stumped right now I don't know what to do anymore. Someone help me please.
