Budget (including currency): no specific budget but don’t want to be wasteful.

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: FPShooters/WoW/Assassins Creed/Elden Ring/possibly streaming/possibly some sort of editing. Basically want to be able to do anything at decent speeds/fps.

I’ve already purchased everything (got the i9 for $500 after tax and shipping) but if a Ryzen build would be beneficial over the i9 I could return the cooler/gpu/motherboard.

the 3090 is a lightly used GPU with replaced heat pads + under 2 years warranty still that I’m paying $700 for. (Can also get a 3080ti for $650 if a better deal)

this is going to be my first build I’ve built myself and I couldn’t be more excited!

Since you went with DDR5, I think it might be worth returning the CPU and motherboard to go Ryzen 7000. The 7900X crushes the 12900K, but you'll be missing out on the iGPU of the i9, which could be used for acceleration when editing. No idea if the iGPU on the R9 supports that. But before you do that, I would wait 2 days for the 13900K release (if your return period is long enough for that), and get that if reviews are good. A BIOS update on your motherboard is all you need if you choose to get the 13900K.

The RX 6800 XT is more than $150 cheaper, and not much slower than a 3090. It's new too, so less risk of getting scammed, comes with warranty, etc. I would recommend this if you don't mind going AMD.

Okay, so just make sure that 3090 wasn't used for mining. A lot of people used those kinds of gpu's for mining, and they're not really recommended for general gaming use either. I've read that they will fail much sooner than expected, whether parts are replaced or not. I could be wrong on that, but that's what I've read so far.

I would recommend returning the cpu, motherboard, and SSD storage, and then going for these instead.
