Hello, I just built my first PC and I am encountering an unexpected problem with the DRAM light being red and solid, and getting no post.

Im using a B660 Aorus Master DDR4, RipJaws 4000-C16, and Intel i3-12100. All components were bought new as well.

The fans and lights turn on, the switches all work, the monitor detects when the PC is turned on, and the DRAM light comes on right away and stays solid. I tried each RAM stick individually in each slot, made sure they were fully locked in, flashed the BIOS to the latest using the q-flash, reseated the CPU and checked for any bent pins, and made sure not to over-tighten the cooler after reseating, but it still just has the same behavior. I tried all of the function keys throughout troubleshooting as well.

Im starting to worry that I have a bad board or something, but because it took a while for me to get all of the components I needed its way past any returns deadlines.

Any help is very appreciated. At this time this is my only computer unfortunately.

No this is the first build and it was like this from the first time I turned it on. Cmos yes, I removed the battery and drained the system, also used the jumpers, and then reflashed it with a USB drive, but no change

If you're sure everything is seated correctly and plugged into the correct spots. Take out the power cable from the PSU and take out the CMOS battery for a minute.

Plug it back in and check if anything happens

Failing that after taking the CMOS out, I know you said you checked all the RAM slots but take them all out and try them one by one again.

Edit: See you already responded by the time I posted 😁

And RAM is in the correct slots as per the manual?

The QVL list for this board indicates the following G.Skill 4000 kits are supported...

F4-4000C18D-32GTZR

F4-4000C18D-16GTZR

F4-4000C18Q2-64GTZR

F4-4000C18Q-32GVK

Otherwise, they may or may not work. And I have seen RAM that wasn't QVL'd cause issues like this... POST failures, random crashes, even no video starts. This is a bigger deal with Ryzen than Intel, but is still a possibility.

I was thinking it might be that too, I was hoping that since the board supports both 4000mhz RAM and C16 RAM, that 4000-C16 would be fine, but it may not be afterall

And it well may support 4000 Mhz CL16, just not THAT PARTICULAR 4000 Mhz CL16. I chased my tail for a few months with RAM my 5900X build didn't like before I discovered QVL actually meant something (despite many naysayers' contrary statements). QVL'd replacement kits solved issues on two different builds, and both had the same timings and voltage as the RAM that wasn't QVL'd. No other changes.

I'll see if I can get some C18 and test it out, the more I think about the more this is most likely the problem

Just be sure it's something that the QVL list recommends, otherwise you might just be wasting money on something that won't fix the problem.

Replied above before I saw this.... Good luck.

Mine is running a 32GB kit of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 3200Mhz CL16. Not on the QVL list but it's working happily with XMP so perhaps a kit to keep in mind.
