Question about standoffs

First time building. The standoffs in the case all line up with the MB which is good. But the center standoff has an extra bit sticking out that doesn't seem removable. Is that just there to keep it from moving around too much or what?

Thats one to help you line up the motherboard properly and not have to worry about it falling out as much if you decide to attempt to mount it while the case is vertical instead of lying flat.
