Hello all!

I'm in the process of trying to get a parts list together for a budget gaming machine for my girlfriend.

The requirements are:
Mini ITX

Wifi

Able to run World of Warcraft, at high-Ultra settings on 1080p

Built inside of the Cooler Master Elite 110

Use case:

World of Warcraft

Super light gaming

Internet

Skype

Budget:

~$500

All help appreciated. No OS, Peripherals, Monitors needed in price. I prefer EVGA GPU's (if a graphics card is budget friendly, and if the card is green team.) If the card is red team, I have no bias.

What I thought up myself:

CPU:  Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($118.97 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard:  MSI Z87I AC Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($114.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory:  Kingston Blu 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($34.99 @ Best Buy)
Video Card:  EVGA GeForce GTX 750 1GB Superclocked Video Card  ($119.99 @ Amazon)
Case:  Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini ITX Tower Case  ($49.99 @ Mwave)
Power Supply:  Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($39.99 @ Micro Center)
Total: $535.90
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
(Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-04-29 16:49 EDT-0400)

Thanks all.

Case: Lian Li PC011-D - CPU: 3900x - GPU: 2080ti Reference - Mobo: Gigabyte - Ram: Corsair 4x16gb 3200MHz - SSD: 2TB Samsung Evo NVME

Don't get a z87 board if you don't plan on overclocking, your better off saving some cash on a B85 board and spending a bit more on a GTX 750 Ti.

I chose the z87, because PCPartsPicker's cheapest board, was only 15 dollars difference.

Pretty good build if you're just playing MMO's. But I would try and get a 750ti in there.

Pony up to a 750TI you'll get much better performance.

Two things:

One, I'm already mildly over budget (not a huge deal, but I don't really want to add 50 bucks if I can help it.)

Two, This is for a very light gaming scenario, I don't think the 750ti will do me much more needed good.

You can get the Asrock B85M-ITX for about $35 cheaper.  Even if you don't plan on getting the 750 Ti, it can still lower the overall cost of your build.

Why do people insist on thinking that getting a Z87 board without overclocking is a waste? Because its definately not a waste, you dont need to overclock with a Z87, you are fine

If you live near a micro center I would suggest looking at there deals you may be able to get something more powerful.

However I do like your build I personally would of found a way to get a quad core. For light gaming probably something like a A10-7850k or something. On the smallest board I could find given that it looks like portability is important here. But I do like your solution it keeps the memory cost down. With a APU build your  memory would go towards the graphics. And even 4 is a little meh for mmo's. Couple of things you look for with mmo's now days quad core, low-mid/mid range GPU you have that handled with the 750, and a SSD for load times (in wow there are tons and good io performance is very helpful in wow).

The 7850k is half of my budget on its own, and games like WoW use 2 cores at best.

Also, an SSD would add 60 bucks (or more). I might consider an SSD for the future, but not now.

WoW uses more then 2 if you have more then 2. Understood a good solid mech hard drive is good enough for the time being.

The 110 was more expensive and as you are on a budget and the cases are fairly similar with the exception of it being a bit longer I thought it would be a stronger fit. You are asking for a lot for under 500.

and here is a updated build with a usb adapter for wifi still under 500. Just trying to stay under your budget without super dramatically changing your build.

you have to understand that the i3 4130 is better even than the 8 core fx 8350 for wow.

I wasn't comparing a 8 core processor which hasn't been optimized for much other than AMD favored titles. I was thinking in the line of something like a i5 or i7. But he's on a budget so its just something that has to be respected.

Thanks all.

Swap out the GTX 750 for a R7 265 (+$35)

Swap out the MSI Z87I AC for a ASRock H81M-ITX (-$55)

Swap out the Cooler Master Elite 110 with the Cooler Master Elite 130 (-$5)

The R7 265 out performs the GTX 750 Ti all day long. No reason spending the same amount for a GTX 750 Ti. And you cannot overclock an i3, so what's the point of dumping the extra $55 into the motherboard. You can always drop in a i5 or i7 later as well, and upgrade the board at a later date if she wants to overclock.

Total: $525.90 ($500.90 after mail in rebates)

You have to account for the wireless though. Although I do like your solution. However, I heard that Nvidia cards typically run stronger on blizzard games. Athough the 265 would be quite formidable.

Still probably spending more on the board then you need to as you can purchase a usb option which would still be less then the premium of a z87 board.

And also still leaving your ram at 4 gigabytes while increasing your graphics card idk! From a pure computing standpoint which is what MMO's really use CPU>RAM>HARD DRIVE>GPU I'd feel safer at 8 but meh!  I get the feeling you know what you want on your own here.

Yea I wouldn't do that build. The 7850k Is a quad core APU that is why I would of gone that route and I would of not purchased a GPU on the side otherwise you are better off with your i3/i5/i7 builds. And its missing wifi this stormtrooper may have his mind blown not seeing that in his build.
