Problem get get 240 hz somehow?

Hellow! I just started to use my old Laptop again (MSI GF63 Thin 10SC)

 

I called the IT center and ask them for an adapter from HDMI > To dp port (I got an samsung gaming montior that accepts 240hz) but somehow i just cant get it to work somehow.. 

Been struggling for few hours now cant figure whats the problem is. the HDMI Cabel is 2.0 atleast (What the store told me)

 

Any tips would be awsome..

This (4K@30Hz) suggests this laptop's HDMI port is only 1.4.

Correct, 120Hz would be the max
