Port forward

KozoleJ

I am trying to port forward port 1194 so I can host VPN on my old pc but there is a problem. Everything I have dried does not work with different port settings whit the firewall on the router but the port does not open. I gave up because my ISP clearly was blocking ports, but if I turn on PPTP on my Asus router port 1723 opens. Now i am confused my router can open ports but if I try to add a manual rule for 1194 nothing happens.

Some ISP routers have ports reserved for their own services.

Why not use a higher port number?

You'd have to try to find out. 🙂

But it should work, yes.

Is the VPN service active on your device when you port forward and check if it's open?
