Cloning Question

Go to solution Solved by YoungBlade,

It is not recommended if you move to a new chipset because the system is going to have a lot of kludge left over - files and drivers relevant to the older chipset that can interfere with the new one. This can result in instability or a loss in performance in some applications/games.

Basically, it will probably work, but it may not work 100%.

Hi there, is it true that if you change from old-new CPU architecture, you cannot clone, you need to do a new install?

For example if I move from 8th gen i7 8700 to 12th gen i5 12600k or AMD 7600x even?

Basically I bought Windows 10 like 6 years ago, and I can't for the life of me remember anything other than my pin.

So I want to clone, would that be ok?

One of the Pro's of cloning a working system is that if anything gets borked, you still have your working copy, so no harm done. In a zero risk game, it'd be dumb to not try it.
