I've been thinking of getting a good antivirus, because i currently don't have one. What antivirus should i get, and should i pay for it?

comes with your windows install and it's free.

 

as long as your not stupid and downloading crap you shouldn't its enough.

If you download crap add MalwareBytes as well.  That and Windows Defender are a good pairing.

Free version is probably enough, but you'll be inundated with notifications to upgrade.  I think they assume if they annoy you enough, you'll pay up just to make it stop.

Bitdefender has been my AV of choice for the past few years, as long as you don't need the VPN or active site-blocking, the free version will be plenty. Often goes on fire sale at retailers like BestBuy or Staples. Got a 1-yr 5-device for $20 from staples last month.

Been telling people Defender and smart browsing/computer usage habits is enough for ages, and it is.. for me. Some people just don't and will never have that kind of sensibility.
