Ive been having stuttering/frame time spikes

Specs.

Ryzen 7 5700G, GTX 1650 SUPER, MSI B550M PRO VDH WIFI, 16GB Corsair RAM 3200mhz and a Corsair CV550 PSU.

I run my games off a 1TB M.2 SSD (Intel 660p, 551 GB Free)

Things i've tried.

-Disabling the IGPU from the CPU in BIOS.

-Using DDU for Nvidia Drivers.

-Downloaded chipset software from manufactures website.

-Reseating RAM and GPU.

-Loading optimized defaults in BIOS.

-Reinstalling windows.

I've checked that my temps are fine and they seem okay (65-70 Celcius GPU and CPU)

The only thing i haven't tried is updating the BIOS but i don't know if that would fix it. I'm running version 7C95v2A.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Good early check, confirm whether your RAM's specific SKU is on the Qualified Vendor List for your board. Not knowing about this gave me hell for several months with various issues. Turned out my RAM was not recommended and replacing it with a kit that was stopped the issues cold. Machine runs perfectly now and even feels faster.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

Hmmm... I have seen a lot of posts here about Ryzen processors with Corsair RAM crashing, and Ryzens are quite fussy about RAM. It could be a single-rank vs dual-rank thing, I found out the kit I had previously that drove me crazy with issues was made in both single and dual-rank, with no SKU differentiation. And for some setups, it does make a difference. I'm not insisting that this is your issue, but I wouldn't rule it out just from surface indications. FWIW, my original kit failed after two weeks in another machine, and it tested fine on both counts up until it failed.

i could try getting a different kit, whats odd is i was using the iGPU before there werent any stutters until i installed the GPU

While I don't see it being an issue, I also just noticed the Intel 660p is not on the QVL for that board.

It may, however, be possible that the 1650 and M.2 are fighting for PCIe lanes and causing a crash, though I don't see a 1650 needing that many lanes. Just a couple alternative thoughts.

now that i think about it, it could be the ssd since i get a lot of stutters in tf2 and the game is always writing and reading to the drive

Hence the reason @emosunasked about which applications and games were having issues. 🙂

with only a 1650 that seems fine. if you frame limit it to 30-40 does the stuttering stop?
