after a power failure my psu blew up, after trying to power on pc my motherboard does not read or recognize my mouse and keyboard although they to receive power as the rgb light turn on.

i have a asus maximus V FORMLUA board, those who know the board know it has a power and reset button on the board itself yet the power button does not work when i try to power on my pc by pressing the button but works when i press it to turn off the pc and the reset button works just fine. I have a few pc exspert friends that i told about my problem they said its the bios chip and i need to replace the bios chip as i cannot flash the bios or reset it to default as my motherboard does not read or recognize usb's not my keyboard or mouse yet all gets power regardless of what usb slot i put it in

...plz give apinion

Have you done your testing on your blown PSU? Then I'd rather suggest that it's the PSU not supplying good enough power to your motherboard, therefore the weird behavior. Did you try your PC with a known good PSU?

Just to underline the point, The issue with PSUs blowing up is, depending on how they do it, they can take out just about any component in the machine when they go.  So basically everything is under suspicion.  I assume you replaced the PSU, but it could have fried the motherboard, the cpu, or the video card when it went.  This happening is a lot less likely than it used to be, but it can still happen.  You can’t assume any one of your parts is good. Including the new PSU, as it could be DOA.  This is why the question “is the new PSU known good?” Is being asked.  A PSU blowing up resulting in a non-working machine can be a very expensive thing to diagnose if there’s no other known good machine to test with.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

the video card and cpu is just fine no problems with them, i tested them on another system and all is good with them. getting back to the motherboard it turns on but by shorting the 24pin whiles pluged into the mb and shows it is reading my hardrives cpu and gpu...we did examine the blown psu and the fuse is blown on the psu but cannot replace it as it is a built in fuse...we used a 250w psu to test the psu without the gpu as for new psu im still wainting on it to arrive its a 550w im getting.

It's entirely possible that you killed the USB ports. Seen it happen, lights still work, but data lines are toast.
