Other details I'm planning on running a i3 12100f with 16gb of ddr4 3200 ram but need to decide on a gpu, I can either get a 1660 super / ti or a older used 1070/1080.

Thanks so much for this! The main thing I'm just worried about is that the 1080 is a older card, I'm looking at a Inno3d 1080 iChill geforce gtx which I have read is one of the better ones.

A lot of people still rocking the GTX 900 series cards, some even still have GTX 700 series cards. 

At a certain point Nvidia will drop support, but it should still be okay.

As a matter of fact, most PC gamers today still use the GTX 1060, game developers will still keep that in mind.
