Laptop keyboard problems

CyberneticTitan
My sister's laptop is running Windows 8, not 8.1. I've recently performed a Windows Update that had over 100 updates.

After such, the keyboard and mousepad have failed to work.

I've tried not one, but TWO, other USB keyboards on the laptop. None worked.

The only keys that would work are the media/hot keys such as volume and brightness.

Things I've tried:

-Re-running Windows Update

-Uninstalling all keyboard and mice

-Entering Safe-Mode and uninstalling all keyboard and mice

-Downloading drivers from the keyboard manufacturer (Synaptics)

System restore might work, but if I try to update Windows again, I fear it may come back to this problem.

All help is greatly appreciated :)

Just out of curiosity, does plugging in a USB mouse work? I know you've already tried a USB Keyboard.

Oops, didn't mention that. USB mouse works perfectly fine. :)

you can reinstall Windows or you can just do a System restore like Delons sugested

Well, worst case scenario, if no other members come up with a better solution you could:

a.) Use System Restore and try it again

b.) Upgrade to 8.1, see if that fixes anything

EDIT: Seems like others had that problem. See if anything here helps you out.
