Windows problem

Hello everyone,

 

Yesterday I built a PC for my uncle.

Here are the specs:

 

CPU: i5 3570k

MOBO: ASRock H61-GS

RAM: 8gb Corsair @ 1066 mhz

PSU: 430W corsair modular

HDD: 500GB Seagate @ 7200 RPM

 

After the build was finished I installed windows 7 ultimate 64bit.

When the install was done I checked computer properties in windows and it said windows ultimate 32-bit, and only 3.22GB of the 8GB ram was usable.

I have used this windows cd before so I know it works.

 

Is there something in the bios I have to adjust to enable 64-bit windows? Or something else?

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi there. It sounds as if it was a 32 bit version that installed. That explains why only 3.2GB of the memory is recognized. Check your installation disk for Windows to make sure its the right one.

Yes I know, but that's very weaird because I've used this CD before to install a 64bit windows...

Is the Windows code you used for 64 bit? May be why it installed the 32 bit version. Not sure if the code matters

double check that the bios is showing 8gb of ram, might have a dead stick? :)

Unlikely as he reports the computer properties shows the 32bit of Windows installed.

I have checked in the boot advance settings the max mem is set to 0, and in the bios it definately detects the full 8gigs of ram.

No, it isn't. I tried doing it though. Didn't work either.
