Recently my computer keeps turning off when playing games. Everything connected to the pc turns off but pc doesn't turn off. I have to press the power button to turn off the computer than restart. It doesn't happen with every game or when idle but this happens under heavy load. My computer:

  • GPU: GTX 1050Ti 4GB
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 1400
  • Mobo: Asus Prime B350M-A
  • PSU: High Power 500W HPQ-500ST-H12S
  • RAM: 2x8GB 3000Mhz XPG Gammix D30
  • SSD: WD SN550
  • HDD: Seagate 1TB 7.2k RPM/ WD 320GB 5.2K RPM
  • 1 Corsair Fan 120mm
  • Corsair Carbide SPEC-01

I assume the problem is caused by the PSU as the system is 5 years old.

that is likely. This could also be a mobo defect

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

That PSU has at best 450W available to 12v rail, and it appears to be a very poor quality PSU at that. I would hazard a guess that even an S12III would be a quality upgrade compared to it. (S12III is not a quality PSU but won't ACTIVELY harm components)
