Where do I set my cstates C3 in a msi mag board listed as post title.

I leave c3 on rest i disabled on my asrock b460m pro board but now got a new board.

C3 allows the cpu boost to 4.3ghz for short time if not just leave it off?

Not quite sure what you're asking, but C3 is Sleep state, to save power. Could you explain in more detail what you want to achieve? You disabled the other Cx states because…?

C3 let me have that 0.4ghz boost from 4.0ghz it does lower the speed but it seems to be that state that lets the cpu get that short burst 4.4ghz for sort commands. Rest I had disabled.

On a B460M or B560M motherboard, the core C states have to be enabled so Intel Turbo Boost works correctly. Either core C3, C6 or C7 has to be enabled so the CPU can reach maximum speed when it is lightly loaded.

Have a look in the BIOS to see if there are any options available to enable the C states. Make sure the BIOS is fully updated. Some early BIOS versions have C state issues.

 

When your computer is idle, what does the ThrottleStop C state window show? Do you see 0.0 for core C3, C6 and C7? My cores average over 99% in core C7. Press the >> button and post a screenshot of the entire C states window. Some Windows settings can also prevent the C states from working correctly.
