4K TV + Radeon R9 380X. Since the R9 380X has only HDMI 1.4a (4K 30), would using an DP to HDMI adapter allow 4K60?

The question is simple. I haven't actually tried it since I don't have an adapter. I can get an adapter, those aren't expensive.

The TV is a TCL 50EP680 https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/d1831aa8

(Can't believe Sapphire actually removed their webpages for older cards!)

 

It's my second PC, will be primairly used for old(er) games and emulation, storage and as a home/media server (once my 1Gbps fiber becomes available).

The main specs are a Ryzen 5 3600, 2x4GB RAM DDR4 2666, R9 380X 4GB, 120GB Sata SSD, Win11, a few 1-2TB HDD-s.

The Radeon 5700XT from my main PC will go there once I upgrade to a better GPU, I hope some time about Easter next year.

Yes 1.2 DP to HDMI 2.0 adapter would work, tried it myself in the past when I had R9 Fury to LG B9 and can get 4k 60Hz.

Thank you. Found a DP to HDMI 2.0 cable, some 25€, might go with that.
