You dont need a 980 Pro as its way overkill, Gen 4 SSD's are still pretty much not utilized well on PC unless you are doing MASSIVE file size transfers. DirectStorage is still years away. A decent quality NVME 3.0 SSD will do fine. Generally Samsung 970 Evo, or a Crucial p2 one should be good.

None of them. Get a WD Blue SN570 and call it a day. Anything faster is a waste of money for at least one more generation of processor, maybe two. Food for thought, I exchanged that exact WD Black for the M.2 I recommend and it serves my 5900X / RTX3060ti just fine. Scores better than expected on CB R23 too.
