Question for q flash

Hello I'm new to building a computer I have a motherboard that I need to update the drivers to run 12th gen cpu and I just wanted to ask this question before I did anything, how do I know when the update completely done for the gigabyte b660m ds3h ax ddr4 motherboard using Q flash? Do I need a usb that has a light on it or does the board have a light on it? this is probably a stupid question I've just heard that you can destroy your motherboard so I want to ask before I do anything.

You don't need to do a bios update for most all lga 1700 and 12th gen chips. Since almost all the chips came out at launch, you won't need a newer bios to support the cpu.

Is that true for the i5-12400f?

Yup any firmware you get out of the box on it will work with that chip.
