First pc/build

About what id recommend

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gX2bRv

I don't usually reccommend previous gen Intel since it's priced similarly to newer gen stuff that will outperfrom it like the 5600 and 12400f

Cheap aftermarket cooler to keep it cool. You might be able to remove this and maybe squeeze in a 6700 non xt.

Decent board for the price

Cheapest kit of 16gb ram

Cheap 1tb storage

At this price point I'd reccommend to go amd since they tend to have better price to perfromance to intel

Cheap case with airflow and a 650 watt psu

Budget (including currency): ~$900 USD

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly small games like Minecraft, but the occasional game like Ready or Not, or Valorant

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):  I'm trying to help my friend get into PC gaming. I also would like to use this as an opportunity to build my first PC. Because it's my first time building and his first computer, I would like to know what you guys think about this parts list that I made. Let me know if I should change out some components or if install would be too complicated for a first-time builder. Side-note I know 900 isn't a lot for a computer right now with the silicone shortage, but I think what I've made would do pretty decently for what he wants.

I agree with them, you'd be much better going for a current gen Intel chip especially because they are going to support the board and socket for longer. Plus you get support for the latest stuff.

Don't get a 500gb hard drive you can get a 1tb one that will do a lot better for holding your games.
