Is this undervolt good?

Im using a gtx 970 and that means i have to mod the vbios to get an undervolt, gtx 900 doesnt support the voltage curve feature in afterburner. It worked fine but i took it a step further and locked the frequency to 1493mhz, it doesnt go much higher than that anyway. Some games run WAY smoother with locked frequency. Idle power usage is only around 10w higher.

Idle power usage: 60w, 49w at stock.

load power usage: 160w, 170w at stock

the games that run smoother because of the locked frequency are 2d or esports games that dont max out the gpu, making the clock speed stay at its idle speed, that can reduce performance sometimes.

exact voltage is 1181.3mV should i try to go lower? (stock is 1.2-1.25v but i dont remember exactly)

update: 1156mV seems to be the ideal core voltage, 1150 caused artifacting.

you make it sound like i did something terrible

edit: accidently pressed send button too early lol

Oh.. when i use that to undervolt my card it didn't actually stick and will still use 1.2v-1.25v on gaming load. That's why I curios if there's a new tool I can use to undervolt Maxwell.

Yeah its a little weird, did you use the right version of nvflash?

you have to use a modified version of nvflash to flash a modded vbios.

It's actually pretty darn easy. Nice undervolt. I run my 980 KPE 1445mhz core. Leaves 65mhz in the tank. 1.22v loaded.

Yes I did. If flashed successfully but the voltage still go over the limit I've set. 🤔

What software you use to monitor the voltage?

Can you share the nvflash? Maybe there's a newer version since the last time I tried this was like 5-6 years ago.

i did it by reducing the max voltage in all of the different boost frequencies, you will see theres clk 1, clk 2, etc. you adjust it for each one.

for a fixed frequency you only need to adjust one of them.
