I have an i7 980X machine with triple channel memory and 6 3.5" drive bays made for HDDs, I assume this machine should be fine with running a Minecraft server. Would this processor handle Minecraft well? I know that Minecraft is largely a single core application, and given the age of the processor I am wondering if there would be issues. Would a few HDDs in RAID be better for a server (especially considering that I am not spending a significant amount of money on this machine, and a parody SSD is not in the budget, but a 30$ HDD might be)? Which RAID would I want to use?

And if anyone has an experience running one, what are some things I should know beforehand?

This will run a small minecraft server but this thing is gonna cost you A LOT in terms of energy. So you might just wanna sell this on and get a much much much more efficient modern cheap office pc. Will also have better single core performance to boot ( not hard to get a 4th gen i5 hp,dell,lenovo,... eith 8gb of ram for less than 100$)

Any raid and whatever is basically pointless.
