I just got my new laptop that I will being using for university this coming Fall and the windows key is opening a strange box. I'd like to know how to make my windows key to open the real start menu rather than this box. I'm in Windows 11 pro by the way. Thanks to anyone who can help.

This is the weird menu the key is opening.

Is this a used laptop? That almost looks like a start menu replacement like Open Shell. If this laptop was pre-owned, I'd wipe and reinstall Windows.

No. It was bought brand new from my understanding.

Also It was originally in windows 10 pro before I installed Windows 11 pro and it kept the weird box so I don't think the issue would be that unless the files didn't get altered in the installation

The Start Menu you showed in the first picture is not something that would come with a normal copy of Windows 10, 11, or any other version of Windows. It looks like Classic Shell to me, and that's not a program you'd find on a brand new computer. I would follow the suggestion of @GuiltySpark_ and wipe and reinstall Windows. You obviously don't have a clean installation unless you specifically installed Classic Shell.
