So my friend gave me his old GTX 970 since i wanted to upgrade from my GTX 1050.

I knew my CX430 wouldnt handle it very well, cause EVGA recommends 500w at minimum, but i wanted to test it out anyway to see if it worked. I booted up with the 970 and it made an insane high pitched noise and no display. Then i got back to the 1050 but now it doesnt show any display.

I bought a new PSU (VS600) but it doesnt seem to work anyway. Maybe its the motherboards fault? Maybe I damaged the PCI-e slot? Any help would be appreciated

Friend of mine runs a GTX 1080 and Ryzen 5 3600 comfortably off a CX450, but the 430 is more of a concern due to age than anything else. The green labels were never stand out units.

A damaged PCIe slot is possible, I would be generally concerned with motherboard damage so I recommend clearing CMOS and/or rearranging your ram to force a new boot configuration.

What CPU are you using?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?
