My PC suddenly stopped posting a while ago (no hardware changes). I was able to verify that the GPU, storage, RAM, and PSU work with other hardware, so that narrowed it down to the motherboard and CPU. I shipped the motherboard back to Gigabyte, who said they tested it and sent it back. Then, I RMA'd the CPU and just installed the new one I received from AMD.

The computer still does not POST and I am still getting the same symptoms as before:

  • LEDs and fans turn on
  • No video output
  • Power cycling every 30 seconds or so (fans and LEDs breifly turn off/on)
  • Troubleshooting lights on motherboard indicate DRAM issue

I am still redoing my troubleshooting with RAM and everything, but wanted to see what you guys think. It's starting to seem like a motherboard issue after all. Do you think I'll just have to go buy a new one?

Specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700X (no overclocking)
  • Mobo: Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AC
  • RAM: G.Skill Aegis 2x8 GB 3000 MHz
  • GPU: MSI Geforce 1060 3 GB
  • PSU: Corsair CX 600 W 80+ Bronze

When you tested the memory on other hardware did you run it through MemTest86? If not this may be worth doing, however I am also going to assume that you was unable to POST on even a single stick in slot A2 of the board?

Given it is Gigabyte and some of the Gamers Nexus / New Egg issues reported on previously if I was to point fingers it would be at them.

I didn't run MemTest86 and unfortunately I can't stick it back in my roommate's computer to run do it now. But yes, I did try each stick individually in slot A2 before, and I will try it again with the new CPU.

That's what I was thinking. I've noticed other minor issues with this board - like USB ports not working - so I can tell you I won't be going with Gigabyte again any time soon.

Thanks for the help!
