Is RX 5500M okay for 1080p gaming?

Hello there. I need a laptop for university. I'm limited in budget.

 

I found MSI Bravo 15 B5DD-208XTR model laptop that cheaper than RTX 3050 laptops.

 

Is it good for 1080p gaming? Is it faster than my desktop Radeon R9 280X? I'm very happy with my R9 280X.

hello i did some research and found this website it looks to be quite helpful AMD Radeon RX 5500M GPU - NotebookCheck.net Tech id honestly read it as it does specify that you can do full 1920x1080p using high or ultra settings on most games and it also gives you more information on the gpu as well

Techpowerup rates it at about the same power as a 290x:

I find that techpowerup is usually pretty accurate with comparisons. Maybe off by 10% or so.

 

So yah, 1080p gaming at medium settings in modern titles should be relatively easy. Older titles at ultra for sure.
