12900K Core Package Temp Query

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Yep pretty normal. That's purely from transistor density.

Hey everyone!

I'm new here, but I'm hoping someone can give me some insight.

I recently built a new PC. I have the i9 12900K (no overclock) on the Z690 Aorus Master motherboard, with the CPU being cooled by the Corsair H170 Elite LCD. At idle, my CPU sits at 30 degrees celcius but spikes to 45 degrees for around 2 seconds every 10 seconds or so. Is this normal? (For admin purposes, I have my radiator in a downward pull inside of a Corsair 1000D). My old i7 6950X stayed at idle temps without any random spikes in temperature unless the CPU was under load. I can also confirm that through NZXT CAM, there is no CPU load increase during the time of the spikes on the 12900K.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Best,

Kane
