So I've heard a lot of thing about how peticular DayZ Mod and DayZ standalone are when it comes to hardware. It doesn't like AMD and it's exetremely CPU intensive, but I've heard from a few people that DayZ doesn't actually use that much memory and that it is just constantly pulling from the HDD. Can anyone confirm if this is true? If so, does it only read (no writes?) because if so I would like to install it on my SSD and I think that would improve preformance as I have an AMD CPU and an AMD GPU, so I would like to get as many frames as possible. However, I don't want to install it on my SSD if it does write as well as read. I don't know why a video game would write, but I do know SSD's have a limited number of writes, and I would like to keep mine alive for as long as possible. Sorry I'm not too smart when it comes to technical stuff.

Install it to the SSD and see what frames you can get and open task manager to see if it is writing to the ssd while you play. If it is then move it to a HDD.

Alright, also love that build in your sig. I'm a huge fan of the Herbivore 10,000W PSU, just installed it in my new build last week.

I can tell you ARMA and DayZ run just fine on AMD.  ARMA's game engine only uses one core heavily, kind of uses two other cores, and doesn't do anything with the rest. You want to raise the clock speed as much as possible. I have both installed on an SSD and they load instantly.
