unless you have a super short stud, it should work fine

And even that can be cured with a small ruibber grommet of the correct diameter.

A trip to a local hardware store can solve things at times too.
If their hardware selection is good you should be able to find a screw that would fit, I know I can go right up the street from here and find practically anything I'd need for such at my local hardware store and best of all I don't have to worry about buying a bag of ten or twenty when all I'd need is one.
Larger hardware chains like Lowes and Home Depot only sell them in such manner but a local hardware store in many cases will sell them individually - Depending on the store of course.
