BypassIO not supported due to driver: EPMVolFl.sys Error

Muhlis

Recently Microsoft released a update on Xbox Game Bar to see if our PC is DirectStorage supported. Apparently my PC does support it but there is an error on the Drive Status. It says "BypassIO not supported due to driver: EPMVolFl.sys". How can I solve that issue? My GPU is MX150 and my SSD is a NVMe SSD (A2000).

Any help would be appreciated.

Note: Virtualization is disabled on BIOS because undervolt on W11 doesn't work with virtualization open, does this make the issue?

https://www.file.net/process/epmvolfl.sys.html i found on that.

scroll down and try to uninstall it..  Windows® Codename Longhorn DDK driver

anything telling you to download something to "update" etc.. is a red flag to me.

could be a trojan too. check system with antivirus?.

How do I uninstall that? I checked with antivirus too.

I didn't find it on both W11 Settings app and control panel app list.

is this an upgraded system from win10 to win11?

Yes, it is. But it was formatted with USB (from boot menu setup).

something installed that file that shouldn't be there.

i would try reinstalling from scratch. and install the update to gamebar as first.. and see if it gets in.

I'm considering that too. Maybe in next week when I have some free time, gonna reinstall Windows. Thanks for helping.

  • 4 weeks later...

+1 same issue.

Not sure if its because I had the NVME Samsung 980 PRO set as a dynamic disk (and therefore wasn't even showing as NVME? Not sure if that was the reason), and converted it to basic to using the EaseUS Partition Master to access more features. Obviously not the cleanest solution here, but at least it now shows an NVME drive.

I installed Win 11 fresh pretty recently - but have everything loaded and ready for office work and gaming. Not too keen on re-installing so soon when DirectStorage is not really doing anything for gaming yet.

Remove anything that deals with HD.

BitLocker.

EPMVolFl.sys is also used on the EAUS Partition Tool/Magic.
