AliExpress SSDs

Hello Team,

I'm running out of storage and I want to get an external drive so I can keep movies, series etc so the drive will not be used in general, rather I will plug it from time to time to transfer the file from the external drive to a PC or Laptop and paste the movie onto the local drive.

 

While searching for something cheep I stumbled upon offers from AliExpress and the price to TB is... well amazing, so I wonder what is the catch. Also, yes they are so cheep that getting one to test it out wouldn't be an issue but on the other had I don't want to move a ton of data there and find out that the drive is dead the next time I use it etc.

Most of them aren't actually that size. They show up like 2tb in explorer, but when you start writing files they get corrupted after a few gb.

They're about as real as the SSD's sold over on Wish.com - in other words, they're real fake.

Lol. Do you really think some random aliexpress seller reinvented the wheel and made their own NAND-flash that is 4-8 times denser and 50 to 100 times cheaper than the competition? ALL of those are fake, never trust these kinds of products from China. Only keep your data on reputable brands sold by reputable sellers.

Nope I'm not from the Netherlands, forgot to turn off VPN :), but I found a promotion on Seagate ST L5000400 in my county for 100EU so I will order that
